Description

The Bluenose is one of the most iconic schooners in maritime history, celebrated for her unmatched speed and elegance. Launched in 1921 in Nova Scotia, she went on to dominate the International Fishermen's Cup and became known as the Queen of the North Atlantic. Today, she remains a cherished symbol of Canadian seafaring heritage.

This open-hull model captures the spirit of the Bluenose through exceptional craftsmanship and remarkable detail. Master artisans handcraft each piece from scratch using historical photographs, drawings, and original plans. Built to scale with premium woods such as cedar, mahogany, and teak, the model follows the traditional plank-on-frame construction, just like the actual ship. Each model takes hundreds of hours to complete and goes through a rigorous quality control process before leaving the workshop.

The open-hull design beautifully reveals the ship's internal framework, highlighting the structural ribs, plank work, and the meticulous hand-built details that define classic boatbuilding. The decking is fitted with wooden cabins, hatches, and miniature fittings true to the Bluenose's original layout. Intricate rigging, hand-stitched sails, and precisely scaled hardware complete the authenticity of this timeless schooner.

History

Bluenose is one of the most celebrated schooners in maritime history. Launched in 1921 in Lunenburg, Nova Scotia, she was built as both a working fishing vessel and a racing schooner. Designed by William Roue, Bluenose quickly earned the title Queen of the North Atlantic after dominating the International Fishermen's Cup for nearly two decades.

More than just a racing champion, Bluenose became a national symbol for Canada , representing skill, resilience, and the seafaring heritage of the Atlantic coast. Her image later appeared on Canadian stamps and the iconic Canadian dime, securing her place as a cultural icon.

Although the original Bluenose was lost in 1946, her legacy lives on through Bluenose II and through countless tributes, exhibitions, and handcrafted models that honor her timeless design and racing spirit.
