RMS Lusitania Ocean Liner – 36-Inch Handcrafted Wooden Model
Own a handcrafted replica of one of the most legendary ocean liners in maritime history. Launched in 1906 for the prestigious Cunard Line, the RMS Lusitania was celebrated for her exceptional speed, luxurious accommodations, and advanced engineering. Built to compete for transatlantic supremacy, she quickly became one of the world's most admired passenger liners, earning the coveted Blue Riband for the fastest Atlantic crossing. Although her tragic sinking in 1915 marked one of the most significant maritime disasters of the twentieth century, the Lusitania remains an enduring symbol of innovation, elegance, and the golden age of ocean travel.
Our 36-inch handcrafted RMS Lusitania Ocean Liner model faithfully captures the distinctive appearance of the original vessel. Each model is individually built by experienced craftsmen using the traditional plank-on-frame construction method—the same principle used in real wooden shipbuilding. We select only premium hardwoods, including Western Red Cedar, Teak, and Mahogany, to ensure exceptional durability, refined craftsmanship, and a timeless museum-quality finish.
Every element is carefully recreated, from the ship's graceful black hull and elegant white superstructure to its four iconic funnels, expansive promenade decks, bridge, lifeboats, masts, ventilators, and other signature features that defined one of Cunard's most famous liners. Rather than being mass-produced, each model is handcrafted with meticulous attention to detail, resulting in a display piece worthy of any maritime, historical, or nautical collection.
The 36-inch model offers a larger, more commanding display while showcasing an even greater level of craftsmanship and detail. Its increased size allows the RMS Lusitania's elegant silhouette, intricate deck layout, and classic ocean liner features to stand out more prominently, making it an impressive centerpiece for an office, study, library, display cabinet, or dedicated collection room. Ideal for maritime historians, ocean liner enthusiasts, collectors, and admirers of classic passenger ships, the 36-inch version provides a stronger visual presence and enhanced realism while remaining practical enough for most display spaces. It is the perfect choice for those seeking a substantial museum-quality replica that honors one of the most iconic vessels ever to sail the Atlantic.
Each piece is individually handcrafted, and production typically takes 3–6 months, depending on the model's size and complexity. Throughout the process, we'll keep you updated with detailed progress photos at every major milestone, allowing you to review the craftsmanship and approve each stage before we move forward.
You'll receive photos during:
- Hull construction
- Deck detailing and superstructure assembly
- Final painting and finishing
Your satisfaction comes first. We proceed to the next stage only after you've reviewed the previous one.

History
The RMS Lusitania was a British ocean liner constructed by John Brown & Company for the Cunard Line and launched in 1906. Upon entering service in 1907, she quickly established herself as one of the fastest and most luxurious vessels on the North Atlantic, briefly capturing the prestigious Blue Riband for the swiftest transatlantic crossing. Designed to harmonize speed, elegance, and advanced engineering, the Lusitania featured lavish first-class accommodations, comfortable quarters for all passenger classes, and pioneering steam turbine propulsion. She became a potent symbol of British maritime strength during the early 20th century, celebrated for providing efficient, reliable service between Liverpool and New York for thousands of passengers, immigrants, and valuable commercial cargo.
During the First World War, the Lusitania continued her operations despite the escalating threat posed by German U-boats. On May 7, 1915, while approaching the southern coast of Ireland, she was struck by a torpedo fired from the German submarine U-20. The liner foundered in just 18 minutes, resulting in the tragic loss of nearly 1,200 passengers and crew. The event shocked the global community, intensified international outrage, and significantly shifted public opinion against Germany, particularly within the United States. Although the U.S. did not formally enter the war until 1917, the sinking of the RMS Lusitania stands as one of the most consequential maritime disasters of the conflict and remains a defining event in both naval and world history.
