USNS Bowditch (T-AGS-62) – 30-Inch Handcrafted Wooden Model
Discover a handcrafted tribute to one of the U.S. Navy's most important oceanographic survey vessels. USNS Bowditch (T-AGS-62) plays a critical role in collecting hydrographic, acoustic, and geophysical data that supports safe navigation, scientific research, and naval operations around the world. Named after the renowned American mathematician and navigator Nathaniel Bowditch, the vessel continues a proud tradition of advancing maritime knowledge through precision surveying.
Our 30-inch handcrafted USNS Bowditch model faithfully captures the vessel's clean lines and specialized research configuration. Every model is individually handcrafted using the traditional plank-on-frame construction method and premium hardwoods, including Western Red Cedar, Teak, and Mahogany, ensuring exceptional craftsmanship and lasting beauty.
Every feature has been carefully recreated, from the spacious working deck and research cranes to the bridge, sonar equipment, communication antennas, survey launches, and scientific support systems. Each model is built entirely by hand, reflecting the same dedication to precision that defines the vessel's real-world mission.
Unlike combat ships, Bowditch is dedicated to expanding our understanding of the oceans. Equipped with sophisticated sonar arrays and oceanographic instruments, it gathers critical data used for underwater mapping, submarine navigation, and scientific exploration. This handcrafted model honors the quiet but essential contributions of one of the Navy's premier research platforms.
The 30-inch version provides an elegant display size that highlights the vessel's unique scientific equipment while fitting comfortably in offices, libraries, universities, museums, or private maritime collections.r
