The Theresa E. Connor is the last surviving Grand Banks fishing schooner built in the United States and a remarkable symbol of New England's maritime heritage. Built in 1938 at the Rice Brothers Shipyard in East Boothbay, Maine, the wooden schooner was designed for the demanding cod and halibut fisheries of the North Atlantic. Measuring approximately 91 feet (27.7 meters) in length, she combined strength, cargo capacity, and seaworthiness, enabling her to withstand the harsh weather and long voyages associated with the Grand Banks fishery. During her commercial career, the Theresa E. Connor made numerous successful fishing trips, supplying fresh seafood to markets throughout New England while representing the final generation of American sailing fishing schooners.

As diesel-powered vessels replaced sail, the schooner's commercial fishing career came to an end, but her historical significance ensured her survival. She was eventually preserved and restored as an important artifact of America's maritime past, retaining much of her original structure and traditional appearance. Today, the Theresa E.
