The Torpedo 13.5ft is a retro-styled compact runabout inspired by early lightweight pleasure craft. With an overall length of 13 feet 6 inches and a 4 foot 6 inch beam, Torpedo offers a narrow, sporty profile capable of planing efficiently with as little as a 10hp motor. Originally configured with twin cockpits, the design captures the charm of vintage two-seat runabouts while remaining practical and easy to construct. One of Torpedo's most distinctive features is its twin rear sponsons, mounted off the transom. These provide added lateral stability, improved flotation, and a visually striking stern profile. Our workshop faithfully recreates this design using premium Western Red Cedar, Mahogany, and Teak, reinforced with U.S.-made Hexcel fiberglass and protected by System Three marine spar varnish. Each boat is built entirely by hand through the traditional plank-on-frame method, requiring approximately 4-5 months of detailed craftsmanship. Clients may customize wood selection, deck finish, cockpit layout, engine configuration, and interior detailing while preserving the classic geometry of the original design.
