American Queen 36 inches Riverboat Model

Own a handcrafted replica of one of the most legendary steamboats ever built. The American Queen holds the remarkable title of being the largest authentic steamboat ever constructed, standing as a magnificent tribute to the golden age of American river exploration. Powered by traditional steam engines and inspired by the grandeur of 19th-century river travel, this iconic paddlewheel vessel represents the elegance, scale, and historic craftsmanship of the legendary Mississippi River system.

Our 36-inch handcrafted American Queen model faithfully captures the authentic appearance of the original vessel. Each model is individually built by experienced craftsmen using the traditional plank-on-frame construction method—the same principle used in authentic wooden shipbuilding. We select only premium hardwoods, including Western Red Cedar, Teak, and Mahogany, to ensure exceptional durability, fine craftsmanship, and a timeless finish.

Every element is carefully recreated, from the reinforced hull and expansive passenger decks to the Victorian-style superstructure, historical fluted smokestacks, ornate exterior details, and massive stern paddlewheel. Rather than being mass-produced, each American Queen model is individually handcrafted with meticulous attention to detail, creating a museum-quality display piece worthy of any maritime, riverboat, or historical vessel collection.

One of the defining characteristics of the American Queen is her immense multi-tiered Victorian wedding-cake architecture, featuring intricate filigree details, elegant passenger areas, and a powerful red stern wheel that symbolizes the heritage of American river transportation. This handcrafted wooden model beautifully recreates her sprawling decks, authentic bow staging walkways, ornamental finishes, and grand riverboat silhouette, capturing the historic opulence and architectural beauty that make her one of America's most beloved vessels.

The 36-inch model offers a more impressive centerpiece with a larger and more commanding display presence. Its increased size allows the American Queen's monumental Victorian architecture, intricate decorative details, massive paddlewheel, and multi-level passenger decks to be viewed with greater clarity and realism. Designed for larger rooms, dedicated display areas, executive offices, or premium maritime collections, this larger version provides a stronger visual impact and a more immersive appreciation of the craftsmanship behind every detail. Preferred by serious collectors and riverboat enthusiasts, the 36-inch American Queen model delivers an enhanced display experience that truly showcases the grandeur, history, and architectural beauty of this legendary American steamboat.

Each piece is individually handcrafted, and production typically takes 3–6 months, depending on the model's size and complexity. History
The American Queen is widely recognized as the largest authentic steam-powered paddlewheel riverboat ever built, earning a distinguished place in American maritime history. Launched on January 5, 1995, by McDermott Shipyard in Amelia, Louisiana, for the Delta Queen Steamboat Company, the vessel measures an impressive 418 feet in length with an 89-foot beam. Designed as a grand luxury riverboat, the American Queen is powered by a fully operational 1932 Nordberg steam engine, originally recovered from a federal dredge vessel, which drives her iconic 60-ton oak-and-steel stern paddlewheel.

For nearly three decades, the American Queen served as the flagship of American overnight river cruising, welcoming up to 436 passengers on voyages along the historic Mississippi and Ohio rivers. Showcasing elegant Victorian-inspired architecture, the vessel combines classic steamboat heritage with modern comfort. One of her most distinctive engineering features is a pair of towering smokestacks that can be mechanically lowered, allowing the six-deck riverboat to safely pass beneath low-clearance bridges while continuing her journeys through America's legendary inland waterways.
