American Duchess 36 inches Riverboat Model

Own a handcrafted replica of one of America's most elegant all-suite paddlewheel riverboats. The American Duchess represents a new era of luxury river cruising, combining the timeless charm of traditional American steamboats with the sophistication of a boutique hotel experience. Inspired by the rich cultural and maritime heritage of the legendary Mississippi and Ohio Rivers, this magnificent vessel offers an unforgettable symbol of refined travel, comfort, and classic riverboat elegance.

Our 36-inch handcrafted American Duchess model faithfully captures the distinctive appearance of the original vessel. Each model is individually built by experienced craftsmen using the traditional plank-on-frame construction method—the same principle used in authentic wooden shipbuilding. We select only premium hardwoods, including Western Red Cedar, Teak, and Mahogany, to ensure exceptional durability, fine craftsmanship, and a timeless finish.

Every element is carefully recreated, from the gracefully proportioned hull and expansive multi-level decks to the elegant superstructure, floor-to-ceiling glass galleries, observation balconies, decorative trim, and iconic stern paddlewheel. Rather than being mass-produced, each American Duchess model is individually handcrafted with meticulous attention to detail, creating a museum-quality display piece worthy of any maritime, riverboat, or luxury cruise collection.

One of the defining characteristics of the American Duchess is her impressive multi-tier superstructure, designed with spacious suites, elegant public areas, and panoramic river views. This handcrafted wooden model beautifully recreates her classic riverboat silhouette, open observation balconies, ornate architectural details, and iconic red stern paddlewheel, capturing the grace, grandeur, and nostalgic spirit of luxury paddlewheel cruising.

The 36-inch model offers a more impressive centerpiece with a larger and more commanding display presence. Its increased size allows the American Duchess's elegant paddlewheel, multi-level decks, architectural details, and refined riverboat features to be viewed with greater clarity and realism. Designed for larger rooms, dedicated display spaces, executive offices, or premium maritime collections, this larger version provides a stronger visual impact and a more immersive appreciation of the craftsmanship behind every detail. Preferred by serious collectors and riverboat enthusiasts, the 36-inch American Duchess model delivers an enhanced display experience that truly showcases the sophistication, heritage, and character of this remarkable luxury paddlewheel vessel.

Each piece is individually handcrafted, and production typically takes 3–6 months, depending on the model's size and complexity. History
The American Duchess made her inaugural voyage in August 2017, becoming the first all-suite paddlewheel riverboat to operate on the Mississippi River system and establishing a new standard for luxury inland cruising. Like her sister vessels, she was created through an extensive maritime conversion, utilizing the durable steel hull of a river vessel originally built in 1995. Reconstructed from the deck upward at Gulf Island Shipyard in Houma, Louisiana, the 340-foot vessel was transformed into an elegant boutique riverboat designed to accommodate 166 guests while exploring the historic waterways of the Mississippi, Ohio, and Tennessee river systems.

Blending the classic charm of traditional paddlewheel steamboats with modern marine technology, the American Duchess offers a distinctive combination of historic styling and contemporary comfort. Her iconic stern paddlewheel pays tribute to the golden age of 19th-century American river travel, while advanced propulsion and environmentally conscious onboard systems provide efficient operation along inland waterways. The vessel also introduced innovative double-deck loft suites, a unique architectural feature that set a new benchmark for spacious accommodations on American river cruise ships.
