47-Foot Motor Lifeboat (USCG) 36 Inches Ship Model

47-Foot Motor Lifeboat (USCG) – 36-Inch Handcrafted Wooden Model

Own a handcrafted tribute to one of the United States Coast Guard's most dependable search and rescue vessels. The 47-foot Motor Lifeboat (MLB) is specifically designed to perform lifesaving missions in some of the world's most challenging maritime conditions. Built to operate in heavy surf, powerful currents, and severe weather, the 47-foot MLB is renowned for its self-righting capability, exceptional stability, and rugged reliability. Since entering service in the late 1990s, it has become an indispensable asset for search and rescue, maritime law enforcement, and emergency response operations along America's coastlines.

Our 36-inch handcrafted 47-foot Motor Lifeboat model faithfully captures the distinctive appearance of the original vessel. Each model is individually built by experienced craftsmen using the traditional plank-on-frame construction method—the same principle used in real wooden shipbuilding. We select only premium hardwoods, including Western Red Cedar, Teak, and Mahogany, to ensure exceptional durability, fine detail, and a timeless finish.

Every element is carefully recreated, from the deep-V self-righting hull and enclosed pilothouse to the radar mast, navigation equipment, rescue gear, deck fittings, and other signature features that define this iconic Coast Guard rescue craft. Rather than being mass-produced, each model is handcrafted with meticulous attention to detail, resulting in a museum-quality display piece worthy of any Coast Guard or maritime collection.

The 36-inch model offers a larger, more commanding display while showcasing an even greater level of craftsmanship and detail. Its increased size allows the 47-foot Motor Lifeboat's distinctive hull, enclosed cabin, and rescue equipment to stand out more prominently, making it an impressive centerpiece for an office, study, display cabinet, or dedicated collection room. Ideal for Coast Guard veterans, maritime professionals, rescue personnel, and serious collectors, the 36-inch version delivers enhanced realism and visual impact while remaining practical for most display spaces. It is the perfect choice for those seeking a substantial museum-quality model that captures the strength, courage, and mission-ready character of this legendary rescue vessel.

Each piece is individually handcrafted, with production typically taking 3–6 months, depending on the model's size and complexity. Throughout the process, we'll keep you updated with detailed progress photos at every major milestone, allowing you to review the craftsmanship and approve each stage before we move forward.

You'll receive photos during:

History
The 47-foot Motor Lifeboat (MLB) was introduced by the United States Coast Guard during the late 1990s to replace the highly successful 44-foot Motor Lifeboat. Specifically engineered for heavy-weather search and rescue operations, the vessel was designed to operate in some of the world's most dangerous maritime environments. Its self-righting capability, rugged aluminum construction, and powerful propulsion system enable the boat to survive breaking surf, hurricane-force winds, and towering waves while carrying out lifesaving missions.

Stationed at Coast Guard rescue stations throughout the United States, the 47-foot MLB has participated in thousands of successful rescues involving commercial fishermen, recreational boaters, and vessels in distress. Capable of operating in surf conditions exceeding 20 feet, the boat is recognized worldwide as one of the safest and most capable rescue craft ever built. Its reliability and extraordinary seaworthiness continue to make it a cornerstone of Coast Guard search and rescue operations.
