History
Originally launched in 1894 in Essex, Massachusetts, as the Effie M. Morrissey, this iconic schooner was designed to endure the punishing conditions of the Grand Banks cod fishery. For decades, she served as a high-performing fishing vessel before shifting into a new role in 1924 under the command of famed Arctic explorer Captain Bob Bartlett.
