Description

RMS Celtic Ocean Liner – 36-Inch Handcrafted Wooden Model

Own a handcrafted replica of one of the great ocean liners of the early twentieth century. Launched in 1901 for the prestigious White Star Line, the RMS Celtic was the first of the renowned Big Four ocean liners and, at the time of her completion, the largest ship in the world by gross tonnage. Designed to provide exceptional comfort, reliability, and long-distance transatlantic service, the vessel helped redefine luxury passenger travel between Europe and North America. With her elegant profile and historic significance, the RMS Celtic remains a celebrated symbol of the Golden Age of Ocean Liners.

Our 36-inch handcrafted RMS Celtic Ocean Liner model faithfully captures the distinctive appearance of the original vessel. Each model is individually built by experienced craftsmen using the traditional plank-on-frame construction method—the same principle used in real wooden shipbuilding. We select only premium hardwoods, including Western Red Cedar, Teak, and Mahogany, to ensure exceptional durability, refined craftsmanship, and a timeless museum-quality finish.

Every element is carefully recreated, from the ship's graceful black hull and elegant white superstructure to its four buff-colored funnels, promenade decks, bridge, lifeboats, masts, deck fittings, and other signature features that made the RMS Celtic one of the White Star Line's most recognizable vessels. Rather than being mass-produced, each model is handcrafted with meticulous attention to detail, resulting in a display piece worthy of any maritime, historical, or nautical collection.

The 36-inch model offers a larger, more commanding display while showcasing an even greater level of craftsmanship and detail. Its increased size allows the RMS Celtic's elegant hull, expansive passenger decks, and iconic ocean liner profile to stand out more prominently, making it an impressive centerpiece for an office, study, library, display cabinet, or dedicated collection room. Ideal for ocean liner enthusiasts, maritime historians, collectors, and admirers of classic passenger ships, the 36-inch version provides a stronger visual presence and enhanced realism while remaining practical enough for most display spaces. It is the perfect choice for those seeking a substantial museum-quality replica that honors one of the most influential passenger liners of the early twentieth century.

Each piece is individually handcrafted, and production typically takes 3–6 months, depending on the model's size and complexity. Throughout the process, we'll keep you updated with detailed progress photos at every major milestone, allowing you to review the craftsmanship and approve each stage before we move forward.

You'll receive photos during:

- Hull construction
- Deck detailing and superstructure assembly
- Final painting and finishing

Your satisfaction comes first. We proceed to the next stage only after you've reviewed the previous one.

Secure Worldwide Delivery

History
The RMS Celtic was the first of the celebrated "Big Four" ocean liners built for the White Star Line and, upon her launch in 1901, achieved the distinction of being the world's largest ship by gross tonnage. Constructed by Harland & Wolff in Belfast, the Celtic marked a significant evolution in maritime travel by prioritizing passenger comfort, spacious accommodations, and operational economy over raw speed. Measuring over 700 feet in length, she offered luxurious first-class amenities while simultaneously accommodating large numbers of second- and third-class passengers, effectively making transatlantic travel accessible to a broader demographic.

Throughout her career, the RMS Celtic maintained regular service across the North Atlantic between Liverpool and New York, earning a reputation for reliability. During the First World War, she was requisitioned for service as a troopship, transporting thousands of Allied soldiers and military supplies across contested waters. Despite enduring collisions and submarine threats, the liner continued to serve with distinction until her return to civilian passenger operations following the conflict. In December 1928, the Celtic encountered severe weather off the coast of Ireland and ran aground near Cobh; while all passengers and crew were safely evacuated, subsequent salvage attempts failed, and the vessel was eventually declared a total loss and dismantled on site. Today, the RMS Celtic remains a foundational milestone in maritime history, remembered for redefining the standards of luxury ocean travel and establishing the technical and commercial framework for the White Star Line’s later iconic Olympic-class liners.
