History
The HMM Algeciras became the world's largest container ship when she was officially delivered on April 24, 2020, setting a new benchmark in ultra-large container vessel design. Constructed by Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering (DSME) for South Korea’s flagship carrier HMM, the vessel measures 1,312 feet (400 meters) in length with a beam of approximately 200 feet (61 meters). Designed to maximize cargo efficiency, the HMM Algeciras offers an impressive capacity of 23,964 TEUs, utilizing advanced lashing bridge arrangements and an optimized hull design to accommodate one of the largest container loads ever carried at sea.
