Completed in August 2019, the MSC Gülsün made maritime history as the world’s largest container ship at the time of her debut. Constructed by Samsung Heavy Industries in South Korea for the Mediterranean Shipping Company (MSC), this record-setting ultra-large container vessel measures an impressive 1,312 feet (400 meters) in length with a beam of 202 feet (61.5 meters). Featuring an innovative 24-container-wide deck arrangement, the MSC Gülsün became the first ship designed to carry more than 23,000 twenty-foot equivalent units (TEUs), maximizing cargo capacity while improving operational efficiency on the major Asia–Europe trade route.

Powered by a high-efficiency low-speed two-stroke diesel engine, the MSC Gülsün established a new standard for environmentally responsible container shipping by reducing carbon emissions on a per-container basis.
