Description
Own a handcrafted replica of one of the U.S. Military Sealift Command's most important strategic sealift vessels. USNS Watson (T-AKR-310) is the lead ship of the Watson-class Large, Medium-Speed Roll-on/Roll-off (LMSR) vessels, designed to rapidly transport tanks, armored vehicles, helicopters, and heavy military equipment anywhere in the world. Named in honor of Army Private First Class George Watson, a Medal of Honor recipient from World War II, the ship serves as a vital component of America's global military logistics network, ensuring combat-ready equipment can be deployed quickly in times of crisis.
Our 36-inch handcrafted USNS Watson model faithfully captures the distinctive appearance of the original vessel. Each model is individually built by experienced craftsmen using the traditional plank-on-frame construction method—the same principle used in authentic wooden shipbuilding. We select only premium hardwoods, including Western Red Cedar, Teak, and Mahogany, to ensure exceptional durability, fine craftsmanship, and a timeless finish.
Every element is carefully recreated, from the massive hull and expansive cargo decks to the commercial-style superstructure, heavy-duty cranes, roll-on/roll-off ramps, deck fittings, and other signature features that define this remarkable military transport vessel. Rather than being mass-produced, each model is individually handcrafted with meticulous attention to detail, creating a museum-quality display piece worthy of any military, naval, or maritime collection.
One of the defining characteristics of USNS Watson is its enormous multi-deck cargo capacity and specialized stern and side ramps engineered for rapid roll-on/roll-off operations. Designed to efficiently load and unload military vehicles and heavy equipment, the vessel plays a critical role in supporting expeditionary operations around the globe. This handcrafted model faithfully highlights these impressive features, showcasing the expansive deck layout, heavy-duty cargo handling systems, and commanding superstructure that make USNS Watson one of the world's premier strategic sealift ships.
The 36-inch model offers a larger, more commanding display while showcasing an even greater level of craftsmanship and detail. Its increased size allows USNS Watson's expansive cargo decks, roll-on/roll-off ramps, heavy-duty cranes, commercial-style superstructure, and intricate deck fittings to be appreciated with exceptional clarity, creating an impressive centerpiece for an executive office, study, display cabinet, or dedicated collection room. Preferred by serious collectors, military historians, veterans, and naval enthusiasts, the 36-inch version delivers enhanced realism, stronger visual presence, and a museum-quality presentation while remaining ideally suited for larger display spaces. It is the perfect choice for those seeking a premium handcrafted replica that fully captures the immense scale, engineering excellence, and strategic importance of one of America's most capable military sealift vessels.
Each piece is individually handcrafted, and production typically takes 3–6 months, depending on the model's size and complexity. History
The USNS Sisler (T-AKR-311) is a distinguished Watson-class large, medium-speed roll-on/roll-off (LMSR) vehicle cargo ship operated by the U.S. Navy’s Military Sealift Command. Named in honor of First Lieutenant George K. Sisler, a U.S. Army intelligence officer who was posthumously awarded the Medal of Honor for his valor during the Vietnam War, the 950-foot vessel had her keel laid on April 15, 1997. Constructed by the National Steel and Shipbuilding Company (NASSCO) in San Diego, she was launched on February 28, 1998, and entered active non-commissioned service on December 1, 1998. Designed as a strategic sealift vessel, the USNS Sisler serves as a floating logistics platform capable of transporting large quantities of heavy military equipment wherever it is needed.
Powered by dual gas turbine engines that enable sustained speeds of up to 24 knots, the USNS Sisler plays a vital role within the United States’ Afloat Prepositioning Force, ensuring rapid deployment of military assets across the globe. With more than 393,000 square feet of cargo capacity, the ship can carry an entire brigade’s complement of main battle tanks, trucks, armored vehicles, and support equipment. Combining exceptional carrying capability with long-range operational readiness, the USNS Sisler remains an essential element of America’s global strategic sealift fleet.
