Alaskan Navigator Tugboat – 30-Inch Handcrafted Wooden Model
Own a handcrafted model inspired by the Alaskan Navigator Tugboat, a modern working vessel engineered to deliver exceptional towing power, precision, and reliability in demanding maritime environments. Built to support commercial shipping, harbor operations, offshore industries, and coastal transportation, tugboats like the Alaskan Navigator are essential to the safe movement of some of the world's largest vessels. Their robust construction, impressive maneuverability, and dependable performance have made them enduring symbols of strength and professionalism on the water.
Our 30-inch handcrafted Alaskan Navigator Tugboat model faithfully captures the distinctive appearance of this hardworking vessel. Each model is individually built by experienced craftsmen using the traditional plank-on-frame construction method—the same principle used in real wooden shipbuilding. We select only premium hardwoods, including Western Red Cedar, Teak, and Mahogany, ensuring exceptional durability, refined craftsmanship, and a timeless museum-quality finish.
Every element is carefully recreated, from the rugged hull and elevated wheelhouse to the towing winch, towing bitts, navigation mast, deck cranes, lifeboats, railings, deck machinery, antennas, and other signature features that define the Alaskan Navigator Tugboat. Rather than being mass-produced, each model is handcrafted with meticulous attention to detail, resulting in a striking display piece worthy of any maritime or commercial vessel collection.
The 30-inch model offers the perfect balance of craftsmanship, practicality, and value. Large enough to showcase the tugboat's intricate details yet compact enough to fit comfortably on bookshelves, office desks, display cabinets, or mantels, it is an ideal choice for both home and office display. Its convenient size also makes it more affordable than larger models, easier to ship worldwide, and a thoughtful gift for tugboat captains, maritime professionals, collectors, or anyone who appreciates the strength and character of working vessels.
Each piece is individually handcrafted, and production typically takes 3–6 months, depending on the model's size and complexity. Throughout the process, we'll keep you updated with detailed progress photos at every major milestone, allowing you to review the craftsmanship and approve each stage before we move forward.
You'll receive photos during:
- Hull construction
- Deck detailing and superstructure assembly
- Final painting and finishing
Your satisfaction comes first. We proceed to the next stage only after you've reviewed the previous one.
Secure Worldwide Delivery
Once you approve the completed model, it will be carefully packed in a custom-built wooden shipping crate with multiple layers of protective cushioning to ensure it arrives safely anywhere in the world.

The Alaskan Navigator is a modern double-hull crude oil tanker built to transport Alaska North Slope crude oil safely and efficiently between the Port of Valdez and refineries along the U.S. West Coast. Delivered in 2005 by General Dynamics National Steel and Shipbuilding Company (NASSCO) in San Diego, California, the vessel is the third of four Alaska-class tankers developed for BP Oil Shipping in response to the Oil Pollution Act of 1990, which required safer double-hull tanker designs. Measuring approximately 287 meters (941 feet) in length with a deadweight of around 193,000 metric tons, the Alaskan Navigator can carry up to 1.3 million barrels of crude oil. Its advanced design features twin diesel-electric propulsion systems, twin propellers, twin rudders, and redundant engineering systems that enhance safety, maneuverability, and environmental protection.
Since entering service, the Alaskan Navigator has operated in the demanding waters of Prince William Sound, the Gulf of Alaska, and the North Pacific, playing a vital role in transporting crude oil from the Trans-Alaska Pipeline System to major West Coast terminals. The vessel incorporates state-of-the-art cargo handling equipment, double-hull construction, and pollution-prevention technologies that rank among the most advanced in the U.S. tanker industry. In 2020, the vessel became part of Overseas Shipholding Group (OSG) through its acquisition of Alaska Tanker Company, ensuring the continued operation of the Alaska-class fleet. Today, the Alaskan Navigator remains a cornerstone of America's domestic energy transportation network, combining modern engineering, exceptional reliability, and a strong commitment to maritime safety and environmental stewardship.
