The OSG Horizon is a highly sophisticated articulated tug-barge (ATB) pusher tug that represents a critical asset in America’s domestic energy logistics network. Completed in 2011 by VT Halter Marine in Mississippi for the Overseas Shipholding Group (OSG), this 153-foot tug was custom-engineered from the hull up to lock seamlessly into the stern notch of the 45,556 DWT tank barge OSG 351. This advanced dual-unit configuration combines the structural sea-keeping reliability of a traditional ship with the incredible economic flexibility of an independent tug and barge.

Operating primarily in the strategic waters of the Delaware Bay, the ATB unit is specialized in high-volume lightering operations, safely transferring crude oil and refined petroleum to regional refineries. Powered by twin Wärtsilä diesel engines generating 6,050 horsepower, the OSG Horizon utilizes advanced controllable-pitch propellers and specialized triple-shutter rudders to maintain exceptional maneuvering control and safety during complex liquid cargo transfers.
