USS Greeneville (SSN-772) – 30-Inch Handcrafted Wooden Model

Celebrate the engineering excellence of one of the U.S. Navy's most capable nuclear-powered attack submarines. Commissioned in 1996, USS Greeneville (SSN-772) is a Los Angeles-class fast attack submarine built to conduct anti-submarine warfare, intelligence gathering, surveillance, precision strike missions, and special operations support. Designed for speed, stealth, and global deployment, Greeneville represents decades of innovation in modern undersea warfare.

Our 30-inch handcrafted USS Greeneville model faithfully captures the sleek lines and unmistakable silhouette of this legendary submarine. Every model is individually handcrafted using the traditional plank-on-frame construction method and premium hardwoods including Western Red Cedar, Teak, and Mahogany, creating a display piece that combines authentic craftsmanship with exceptional attention to detail.

Every feature is carefully reproduced, including the streamlined pressure hull, sail, diving planes, rudder, propulsor, sonar dome, and deck fittings. Skilled craftsmen devote countless hours to shaping, assembling, and finishing each model by hand, ensuring museum-quality accuracy and a refined appearance worthy of serious collectors.

Powered by a nuclear reactor, USS Greeneville is capable of remaining submerged for extended periods while traveling vast distances without refueling. Its advanced sonar systems, quiet propulsion, and sophisticated weapons platform have made it a critical asset for U.S. naval operations around the world. History
Commissioned in 1996, USS Greeneville (SSN-772) is a Los Angeles-class nuclear-powered fast attack submarine of the United States Navy. Named after the city of Greeneville, Tennessee, the submarine was designed to perform a wide range of missions, including anti-submarine warfare, anti-surface warfare, intelligence gathering, surveillance, reconnaissance, and precision strike operations. Powered by a nuclear reactor, Greeneville is capable of remaining submerged for extended periods while operating at high speed across the world's oceans.

USS Greeneville became widely known following the tragic 2001 collision with the Japanese fisheries training ship Ehime Maru near Hawaii during a demonstration cruise, an accident that prompted significant changes to Navy operational procedures and safety practices. Despite this unfortunate event, the submarine continued its active service after extensive repairs and has since participated in numerous deployments throughout the Indo-Pacific region. Today, Greeneville remains an important component of the U.S. Navy's submarine force, contributing to regional stability, deterrence, and undersea warfare capabilities through advanced technology and highly trained crews.
