The USCGC Seneca (WMEC-906) 36-inch model is a meticulously handcrafted representation of the U.S. Coast Guard’s Medium Endurance Cutter Seneca, created for maritime collectors, Coast Guard enthusiasts, and those who appreciate museum-quality wooden ship models. Drawing on more than two decades of ship-modeling expertise, this custom model is built from premium materials, including Canadian Red Cedar and FSC-certified wood, with each piece carefully crafted from the ground up.

Constructed using the traditional plank-on-frame technique, the model is designed to accurately capture the vessel’s distinctive hull, superstructure, and functional details. Development of the first prototype involved extensive study of available plans and photographs, with guidance from a U.S. Coast Guard veteran to help ensure an authentic representation of the ship.

Each model requires approximately 3–6 months to complete, depending on the level of customization and detailing. The result is a refined display model that honors the Seneca’s service while showcasing the craftsmanship of traditional wooden shipbuilding.

History of USCGC Seneca

Commissioned in 1986, USCGC Seneca (WMEC-906) was named after the earlier USRC Seneca, which served during World War I. As a Medium Endurance Cutter, Seneca has supported a broad range of U.S. Coast Guard missions throughout its service.

The vessel has played an important role in drug interdiction and maritime law enforcement, helping combat transnational criminal activity in the Atlantic. Beyond law enforcement operations, Seneca has also participated in search-and-rescue missions and fisheries enforcement, demonstrating the versatility required of a modern Coast Guard cutter.
