The OSG Horizon is a modern articulated tug-barge (ATB) pusher tug that serves as an essential component of the United States’ domestic energy transportation network. Completed in 2011 by VT Halter Marine in Mississippi for the Overseas Shipholding Group (OSG), the 153-foot tug was specifically designed to integrate with the stern notch of the 45,556 DWT OSG 351 tank barge. This advanced ATB configuration combines the operational flexibility of a tug-and-barge system with the stability and seakeeping performance of a conventional tanker, providing an efficient solution for transporting petroleum products along the U.S. coastline.

Primarily operating in the waters of Delaware Bay, the OSG Horizon specializes in high-capacity lightering operations, safely transferring crude oil and refined petroleum products to regional refineries and terminals. Powered by twin Wärtsilä diesel engines producing a combined 6,050 horsepower, the tug is equipped with controllable-pitch propellers and advanced triple-shutter rudders that provide outstanding maneuverability and precise handling during complex liquid cargo transfer operations.
