USNS Zeus (T-ARC-7) 36 Inches Ship Model

USNS Zeus (T-ARC-7) – 36-Inch Handcrafted Wooden Model

Own a handcrafted tribute to one of the U.S. Navy's most unique and technologically advanced cable ships. Commissioned in 1984, the USNS Zeus (T-ARC-7) is operated by the Military Sealift Command and is the only active U.S. Navy vessel specifically designed to install, recover, and maintain undersea communication and surveillance cables. Supporting critical naval infrastructure, scientific research, and national security missions, Zeus has played an essential role in maintaining the underwater cable networks that enable secure communications and advanced ocean surveillance. Its specialized capabilities and decades of dedicated service have made it an indispensable asset to the U.S. Navy.

Our 36-inch handcrafted USNS Zeus model faithfully captures the distinctive appearance of the original vessel. Each model is individually built by experienced craftsmen using the traditional plank-on-frame construction method—the same principle used in real wooden shipbuilding. We select only premium hardwoods, including Western Red Cedar, Teak, and Mahogany, to ensure exceptional durability, fine detail, and a timeless finish.

Every element is carefully recreated, from the gracefully contoured hull and modern superstructure to the cable-handling equipment, stern sheaves, cranes, working decks, radar masts, navigation systems, and other signature features that distinguish this remarkable cable ship. Rather than being mass-produced, each model is handcrafted with meticulous attention to detail, resulting in a museum-quality display piece worthy of any military or maritime collection.

The 36-inch model offers a larger, more commanding display while showcasing an even greater level of craftsmanship and detail. Its increased size allows the USNS Zeus's distinctive hull, specialized cable-laying equipment, and intricate deck machinery to stand out more prominently, making it an impressive centerpiece for an office, study, display cabinet, or dedicated collection room. Ideal for naval veterans, Military Sealift Command supporters, maritime professionals, and serious collectors, the 36-inch version delivers enhanced realism and visual impact while remaining practical for most display spaces. It is the perfect choice for those seeking a substantial museum-quality model that celebrates the innovation, precision, and engineering excellence of this extraordinary naval cable ship.

Each piece is individually handcrafted, with production typically taking 3–6 months, depending on the model's size and complexity. Throughout the process, we'll keep you updated with detailed progress photos at every major milestone, allowing you to review the craftsmanship and approve each stage before we move forward.

You'll receive photos during:

- Hull construction
- Deck detailing and superstructure assembly
- Final painting and finishing

Your satisfaction comes first. We proceed to the next stage only after you've reviewed the previous one.

History
USNS Zeus (T-ARC-7) is the United States Navy's only cable-laying and cable repair ship, operated by the Military Sealift Command since 1984. Specifically designed to install, maintain, and repair underwater communications cables, the vessel plays a vital role in supporting the Navy's global command, control, and surveillance networks.

Unlike traditional naval ships, Zeus specializes in highly technical underwater engineering operations. Equipped with precision cable-handling systems, dynamic positioning technology, and advanced navigation equipment, the vessel is capable of deploying and repairing thousands of miles of submarine cable across the world's oceans. Its unique mission makes Zeus one of the most specialized and strategically important support vessels in the U.S. Navy fleet.
