USS Michael Monsoor (DDG-1001) was commissioned by the United States Navy in 2019 as the second ship of the Zumwalt-class guided missile destroyers. The vessel was named in honor of Navy SEAL Michael Monsoor, who was posthumously awarded the Medal of Honor for sacrificing his life to save fellow teammates during combat operations in Iraq.
