Description

The B-39 is a Soviet-era Foxtrot-Class submarine (Project 641), built during the Cold War for long-range patrol and surveillance. It served with the Pacific Fleet and was later retired and turned into a museum ship in San Diego. B-39 is one of the most iconic diesel-electric submarines of its time. This 36-inch handcrafted model is built using the traditional plank-on-frame method with premium woods such as Red Cedar, Teak, and Mahogany. From the long, tapered hull to the sail-mounted snorkel and classic torpedo tube layout, this model captures the Cold War aesthetic in authentic detail. Build time ranges from 3 to 6 months depending on customization. Throughout the process, we provide consistent updates with photos from each major milestone: - Hull construction - Deck detailing and structures - Final painting and finishing touches We’ll make adjustments until you’re completely satisfied with the model. After you approve the completed model, it will be shipped in a secure, custom wooden crate with internal cushioning for safe worldwide delivery. Commission your Foxtrot-class model today: Custom-made Projects The B-39 is one of the most well-known submarines of the Foxtrot-Class, officially designated as Project 641, developed by the Soviet Union during the Cold War. Designed for long-range patrol and anti-ship missions, the Foxtrot-Class was the backbone of the Soviet diesel-electric submarine fleet throughout the 1960s and 1970s, with over 70 units constructed. B-39 was commissioned in the 1960s and assigned to the Soviet Pacific Fleet. Like other Foxtrots, it was equipped with ten torpedo tubes, powerful sonar arrays, and had the endurance to operate for extended missions without surfacing — making it a formidable presence in Cold War naval operations. Although specific details of B-39's missions remain classified, it served during a period of high tension between superpowers, often conducting surveillance and patrol duties. After decades in active service, B-39 was decommissioned and later preserved as a museum ship in San Diego, California, where it became a rare opportunity for the public to experience Cold War naval history up close. Today, the B-39 stands not only as a testament to mid-20th century Soviet engineering but also as a powerful symbol of maritime strategy and undersea warfare during one of the most volatile periods in global military history.
