Description

Commissioned in 1976, USS Los Angeles (SSN-688) is the lead vessel of the Los Angeles-class nuclear-powered fast attack submarines. Renowned for its speed, stealth, and versatility, it became a cornerstone of the U.S. Navy’s submarine force during the Cold War and continues to serve as a symbol of naval innovation. Its advanced technologies set new standards for underwater warfare and strategic deterrence. This vessel’s legacy is one of endurance, tactical superiority, and engineering excellence. This 36-inch handcrafted model faithfully captures the sleek design and technological innovation of this legendary submarine. Constructed using the plank-on-frame method and premium-grade woods such as Canadian red cedar, mahogany, rosewood, and teak, each model requires 3 to 6 months of skilled craftsmanship to ensure accuracy and fine detail. We access extensive resources, including museum collections worldwide, to source authentic materials. However, if you have specific plans, photos, or customization notes, please share them—we tailor every build to your vision. You’ll receive photos at each stage—hull construction, deck detailing, and painting—for review and feedback. We’ll make adjustments until you’re completely satisfied with the model. After final approval, the model ships in a custom wooden package to ensure safe delivery.
