Adventure Schooner Model – 36-Inch Handcrafted Wooden Model

Own a handcrafted model of the Adventure Schooner, a celebrated American fishing schooner that embodies the craftsmanship, endurance, and maritime heritage of New England's legendary Grand Banks fishing fleet. Originally launched in 1926 in Essex, Massachusetts, Adventure was among the last and finest Gloucester fishing schooners built during the golden age of commercial sail. Designed for strength, speed, and long voyages, she spent years harvesting cod and halibut from the North Atlantic before being preserved as a National Historic Landmark. Today, the Adventure Schooner stands as a proud symbol of America's seafaring tradition and the remarkable skill of generations of fishermen and shipbuilders.

Our 36-inch handcrafted Adventure Schooner model faithfully captures the distinctive appearance of this historic sailing vessel. Each model is individually built by experienced craftsmen using the traditional plank-on-frame construction method—the same principle used in real wooden shipbuilding. We select only premium hardwoods, including Western Red Cedar, Teak, and Mahogany, ensuring exceptional durability, refined craftsmanship, and a timeless museum-quality finish.

Every element is carefully recreated, from the gracefully shaped wooden hull and towering twin masts to the intricate standing and running rigging, hand-stitched sails, deckhouses, fishing dories, anchors, booms, railings, and other signature features that define the Adventure Schooner. Rather than being mass-produced, each model is handcrafted with meticulous attention to detail, resulting in a stunning display piece worthy of any maritime, historical, or nautical collection.

The 36-inch model offers an exceptional balance of impressive scale and fine craftsmanship. Its larger size allows for even greater detail and a more commanding display presence while remaining suitable for bookshelves, executive offices, display cabinets, or home libraries. The increased dimensions provide additional realism, making it an outstanding centerpiece for sailing enthusiasts, maritime historians, collectors, or anyone who appreciates the beauty and heritage of classic working schooners.

Each piece is individually handcrafted, and production typically takes 3–6 months, depending on the model's size and complexity. Throughout the process, we'll keep you updated with detailed progress photos at every major milestone, allowing you to review the craftsmanship and approve each stage before we move forward.

You'll receive photos during:

- Hull construction
- Deck detailing and superstructure assembly
- Final painting and finishing

Your satisfaction comes first. We proceed to the next stage only after you've reviewed the previous one.

History
The Adventure is one of America's most celebrated historic fishing schooners and a lasting symbol of the New England fishing industry. Schooner Adventure was built in 1926 at the renowned Stage Fort Marine Railway in Gloucester, Massachusetts, for the Atlantic halibut and cod fisheries. Designed by noted naval architect Thomas F. McManus, the vessel combined speed, strength, and exceptional seaworthiness, making it well suited for long voyages to the rich fishing grounds of the Grand Banks and Georges Bank. During her commercial career, Adventure completed more than a hundred successful fishing trips, supplying fresh seafood to markets throughout the northeastern United States and earning a reputation as one of Gloucester's finest working schooners.

As commercial fishing shifted to diesel-powered trawlers after World War II, Adventure retired from active fishing in the 1950s and later served as a cargo vessel and training ship before falling into disrepair. Recognizing her historical importance, preservationists launched an ambitious restoration campaign that returned the schooner to her former glory while preserving much of her original structure. Today, Adventure operates as a floating maritime museum and educational vessel in Gloucester, welcoming visitors, students, and sailing enthusiasts aboard. Designated a National Historic Landmark, she stands as a living tribute to the courage, craftsmanship, and determination of the fishermen who once depended on wind and sail to harvest the rich waters of the North Atlantic, preserving an important chapter of America's maritime heritage for future generations.
