History
The SS Noordam was a transatlantic passenger liner constructed for the Holland America Line by Harland & Wolff in Belfast. Launched in 1901 and entering service in 1902, the vessel was designed to accommodate first-, second-, and third-class passengers between Rotterdam and New York during a period of rapidly expanding European emigration. Measuring over 560 feet in length and powered by twin-screw steam engines, the Noordam integrated dependable performance with comfortable accommodations. Thousands of immigrants, tourists, and business travelers crossed the Atlantic aboard the ship, establishing her as a vital maritime link between Europe and North America during the early 20th century.

During the First World War, the SS Noordam continued operating under neutral Dutch registry, transporting passengers and cargo while navigating the inherent dangers of wartime seas.
