Description

The T.S.S. Normandie was one of France's finest and most celebrated ocean liners. This highly detailed handcrafted model captures the elegance and distinctive design of the legendary liner, making it an impressive display piece for your home, office, or maritime collection.

Master craftsmen build each model from scratch using historical photographs, drawings, and original plans as references. Made from premium Western Red Cedar, Rosewood, and Mahogany, the model is constructed using the traditional plank-on-frame method, similar to the construction of actual wooden ships. Each model is individually handcrafted and requires hundreds of hours to complete, followed by a rigorous quality control process.

The model features multiple wooden decks, hundreds of open windows along the hull, layered stanchions and guardrails, three magnificent smokestacks with red and black chimneys, and dozens of meticulously handcrafted wooden lifeboats. The mast is shipped in a lowered position to help reduce shipping costs.

This model is part of an exclusive edition and features a unique laser-cut serial number positioned behind the brass nameplate. It makes an excellent gift for ocean liner enthusiasts, maritime collectors, boat lovers, and anyone looking for an elegant nautical display.

History

The T.S.S. Normandie was arguably one of the most magnificent ocean liners ever built. Second in size only to the Queen Elizabeth and a running mate of the Queen Mary, Normandie was designed to represent French innovation, luxury, and craftsmanship.

Her distinctive design and lavish interiors made her one of the most celebrated liners of the 1930s and earned her a reputation as the “ultimate ocean liner.”

During World War II, Normandie was being converted into a troopship, renamed Lafayette, when a devastating fire broke out in New York Harbor. The ship capsized and was ultimately considered beyond recovery. After being refloated and towed to the Brooklyn Navy Yard in 1943, Normandie remained there until the end of the war before being dismantled in Newark, New Jersey, in 1946.

Today, the Normandie remains an enduring symbol of the golden age of ocean travel, and this handcrafted model preserves its remarkable legacy in miniature.
