Description

RMS Lusitania Ocean Liner – 30-Inch Handcrafted Wooden Model

Own a handcrafted model of the RMS Lusitania, one of the most famous ocean liners in maritime history. Launched in 1906 for the Cunard Line, the Lusitania was celebrated for her remarkable speed, luxurious accommodations, and groundbreaking engineering, becoming one of the premier transatlantic liners of the Edwardian era. Awarded the prestigious Blue Riband for the fastest Atlantic crossing, she symbolized the golden age of ocean travel before her tragic sinking by a German U-boat in 1915 during the First World War. The loss of the Lusitania profoundly influenced public opinion and remains one of the most significant events in modern naval history.

Our 30-inch handcrafted RMS Lusitania Ocean Liner model faithfully captures the distinctive appearance of this legendary vessel. Each model is individually built by experienced craftsmen using the traditional plank-on-frame construction method—the same principle used in real wooden shipbuilding. We select only premium hardwoods, including Western Red Cedar, Teak, and Mahogany, ensuring exceptional durability, refined craftsmanship, and a timeless museum-quality finish.

Every element is carefully recreated, from the elegantly proportioned hull and iconic four funnels to the graceful superstructure, promenade decks, lifeboats, masts, deck cranes, ventilators, railings, and other signature features that define the RMS Lusitania. Rather than being mass-produced, each model is handcrafted with meticulous attention to detail, resulting in a stunning display piece worthy of any maritime, ocean liner, or Cunard collection.

The 30-inch model offers the perfect balance of craftsmanship, practicality, and value. Large enough to showcase the RMS Lusitania's intricate details yet compact enough to fit comfortably on bookshelves, office desks, display cabinets, or mantels, it is an ideal choice for both home and office display. Its convenient size also makes it more affordable than larger models, easier to ship worldwide, and a thoughtful gift for ocean liner enthusiasts, maritime historians, collectors, or anyone who appreciates the elegance and legacy of the Golden Age of Transatlantic Travel.

Each piece is individually handcrafted, and production typically takes 3–6 months, depending on the model's size and complexity. Throughout the process, we'll keep you updated with detailed progress photos at every major milestone, allowing you to review the craftsmanship and approve each stage before we move forward.

You'll receive photos during:

- Hull construction
- Deck detailing and superstructure assembly
- Final painting and finishing

Your satisfaction comes first. We proceed to the next stage only after you've reviewed the previous one.

Secure Worldwide Delivery

Once you approve the completed model, it will be carefully packed in a custom-built wooden shipping crate with multiple layers of protective cushioning to ensure it arrives safely anywhere in the world.

RMS Lusitania was a British ocean liner built by John Brown & Company for the Cunard Line and launched in 1906. Entering service in 1907, she quickly became one of the fastest and most luxurious ships on the Atlantic, briefly holding the prestigious Blue Riband for the quickest transatlantic crossing. Designed to combine speed, elegance, and safety, Lusitania featured lavish first-class accommodations, comfortable cabins for all passenger classes, and advanced steam turbine engines. She became a symbol of Britain's maritime strength during the early twentieth century and was celebrated for providing fast, reliable service between Liverpool and New York, carrying thousands of passengers, immigrants, and valuable cargo across the Atlantic.

During the First World War, Lusitania continued operating despite the growing threat posed by German U-boats. On May 7, 1915, while approaching the southern coast of Ireland, she was struck by a torpedo fired by the German submarine U-20. The liner sank in just 18 minutes, resulting in the deaths of nearly 1,200 passengers and crew. The tragedy shocked the world, intensified international outrage, and influenced public opinion against Germany, particularly in the United States. Although the United States did not enter the war until 1917, the sinking of RMS Lusitania became one of the conflict's most significant maritime disasters and remains a defining event in naval and world history.
