History

In 1899, Orville and Wilbur Wright began testing their aviation concepts by building and flying a biplane kite. Their experiments laid important groundwork for the development of gliders and powered aircraft.

On December 17, 1903, the Wright brothers successfully flew the Wright Flyer four times near Kill Devil Hills, North Carolina. The aircraft is now exhibited at the National Air and Space Museum in Washington, D.C.
