Description

Launched in 1909 in Fairlie, Scotland, the Tuiga is a legendary 15m-class yacht known for its graceful lines and exceptional sailing performance. It remains an icon in classic yachting history, racing successfully under a British crew.

This handcrafted Tuiga model is made from high-quality woods such as western red cedar, rosewood, and mahogany, built using the traditional plank-on-frame construction method. Every model is individually hand-built by skilled artisans, following original plans and historical references. The attention to detail is evident in the hand-stitched sails, precisely knotted rigging, and carefully crafted features like the wooden cabin, lifeboat, and metal steering wheel above the rudder.

The deck and hull showcase meticulous craftsmanship, with polished wooden planks and authentic fittings. The model is mounted on a wooden base with a brass nameplate for a distinguished display.

Perfect for home or maritime decor, this model makes a timeless statement.

Please Note: Your model is shipped with the mast and sails neatly folded for secure and efficient delivery. All rigging is pre-installed, simply raise the mast and adjust the sails for proper alignment, and your assembly will be complete in minutes.

History

Tuiga, a stunning yacht commissioned by the Duke of Medinacelli, was designed by renowned Scottish naval architect William Fife, Junior. Launched in 1909 in Fairlie, Scotland, Tuiga was built as a racing yacht and became one of the most successful and admired yachts of her era.

In its early years, Tuiga raced successfully with a British crew, earning numerous second-place finishes behind her twin, the Spanish royal yacht Hispania. Despite not always claiming the top spot, Tuiga's sleek design and fast performance made her a fierce competitor in regattas, particularly in the Mediterranean sailing circuit.

Over the years, Tuiga changed hands and names multiple times, but her legacy as a premier racing yacht remained intact. Eventually, the yacht underwent a complete restoration, preserving her original elegance and ensuring that she would continue to sail for future generations.

Today, Tuiga belongs to the prestigious Yacht Club de Monaco, where she is carefully maintained and sails in the club's events. The yacht's history, combined with her graceful design, has earned her a special place in the world of classic yachts, and she continues to be celebrated as a symbol of early 20th-century sailing excellence.
